Marco Calliari: A short biography Italian-native Marco Calliari is a Québec singer-songwriter-composer who, in recent years, has literally taken the local and international scenes by storm. Initially a member of Anonymus, he left the heavy metal band after 15 years of stage performances, a measure of success and.... 5 albums. When he launched his solo career, in 2003, he went back to his roots and began composing music reminiscent of Italian classics as well as original offerings, always with a festive beat. In the years that followed, his albums "Che la vita" (2004) and "Mia dolce vita" (2006) ushered him through a whirlwind of festivals and shows throughout Québec and also in Ontario, Italy, France, Spain and Belgium. Numerous awards and nominations (Étoiles Galaxie, RIDEAU Bursary, ADISQ, GAMIQ) attest to his talent and exceptional contribution to world music. Founder of the popular Ritalfest (2004), a Montréal festival that celebrates Italian music and showcases up-and-coming performers from Québec and beyond, Marco Calliari has an unmistakable passion not only for the arts but also for the cultures of the world. With a third album in the works and a European tour scheduled for the fall of 2008, Marco Calliari believes that our roots are meant to come alive anywhere that music nourishes them. |
